have to say the second looks much better, as mentioned makes it look more professional. But the main reason to me fade's work better is because it gives a hint to the player, mentioning that he doesnt know what's beyond that wall, and that effect is missing with a full visible block. it makes the level "look and feel" a lot bigger then what it actually is
