because I like to save resources and to make my whole game smaller I converted every wav to ogg (one time mono, after that stereo) but I can't play anything because it says:

Malfunction W71: can't play sound (mono wav/ogg only)

I thought it has to be mono but that wasn't the point...Anyone had this trouble before? I also installed the codec from "external"

If you use ogg for soundeffects: Use snd_play and mono files.

If you are using ogg for music files: Use media_play and stereo files.

And you must have installed the codec. (not for snd_play).

I think that's because snd_play uses the internal engine for playing the sound, but media_play uses windows to play the sound, so you need to install drivers for media_play, but not for snd_play.

And very important: You can use ent_play. And this is the reason for mono-files.

You don´t need a stereo file for that, because the sound comes from a direction.

Only music is always stereo. (most time).

Okay, I got it working now. Some files in wav couldn't be converted to ogg (WTF?!) so I used a online converter and now it is working. I want to say that ogg is a great format eventhough I had some troubles.

I can't hear any quality difference

Which one do you use?
