See? That's the point of the discussion where things get difficult. Minecraft has no onwership memory, so it doesn't matter who connects the TNT to the pressure plate or who triggered it. My question was, would a player get banned for stepping on a pressure plate? Obviously, the player setting up this trap wouldn't, even if the TNT went off.

Yeah, but... Who is Lu?

Or it was a simple mistake. Since no harm was caused whatsoever (maybe he used it for mining?) its just silly to ban someone for trying.

Oh, and it wouldnt be too hard to just write a plugin that logs TNT placement and its owner. Either do it via an external array or just use some of the unused bytes.

The player walking into the trap would.

1. The server has enough to do, as is.
2. That is just the point. DON'T USE TNT. DON'T TRY. DON'T even think about it. Not for mining, not for fun, not for nothing. Don't use it, just don't. DON'T. Do Not. Thou shalt not use TNT. Get it?

No matter what I did so far. It just doesn't get into people's minds. And I am sick an tired of it. So I am left with Banning people. And that's that. You don't have to play if you don't want to. There are plenty other servers around if you don't like my strict TNT ruling.

1. Inventory scanning wouldnt really add any significant server load - but it's pretty useless since exploding is disabled anyways.
2. Are you hosting that server for having a fun time playing or for playing king in the sandpit?

I don't see how making the ground swiss cheese and blowing up other peoples work is considered "fun playing". But this is getting pointless, you are obviously just trying to troll.

I do like TNT in that game, but i have to agree with Michael, it's not about "playing king", it just can kill the server so easily that it can be quite annoying.

I don't see how making the ground swiss cheese and blowing up other peoples work is considered "legit use of TNT", which is also banned (and shouldnt even be thought about). Sure, in a game like that with a somewhat mature community it's hard to find someone that deserves a ban - so we need some drastical rules for harmless stuff, or else this "ban" button would become useless.
"just trying to troll" - No, I'm not, this is not 4chan. I just think the players should have as much freedom as possible (without harming others of course), not face a ban for using legit game mechanics. And since TNT explosion is already disabled, why ban people?

Many servers ban TNT, it is not uncommon at all. If you want to protect your server from grievers, you have to take these actions. It's not a thing to take lightly. After the newer releases many plugins broke that protected worlds from being destructed by visitors. Whatever server I joined, they were all utterly grieved. It shows the average age of a minecraft player very well. These precautions are simply needed and need not be questioned.

I have to say I love this discussion grin.

Trying to trick the TNT-Ban script... even if it's just a thought-experiment, I love the idea laugh

Gosh, I should start playing minecraft.
Michael, would it be worth showing a few more screens from your server? I'd love to see what you guys are up to...
