What is the sound of a fusion reaktor like ITER, TEXTOR or JET?
Any ideas or links?

I'd rather go with atmosphere than with realism. It depends on how you want to place your sound into the game - I'd probably go with some slow deep frequency waves and that obligatory contamination meter sizzling.

I´m just curious because it looks really amazing...

I would like to hear the original sound, but it seems there are only silent videos around the www. frown

I guess that depends on what you want...

When it's for a game / movie then you simply put in what suits the atmosphere best. If you want to go for "realism" it's going to be pretty boring. I mean apart from you not really hearing anything besides some electrical noises outside at the transformator because of the thick walls. If you're talking about just the very "room" where all your science mumbo jumbo fires your reactor - well I haven't been there personally while one was running (and one probably shouldn't be at some spots while it's running) but I guess apart from kinda dull and loud hummings there won't be much to hear...

I think they are going to seem pretty damn noisy, but actually be silent...

The two magnetic-containment reactor designs I could find both have a
vacuum chamber/layer. This will eliminate any sound from the reaction itself.
Thereby making the process silent...

BUT, all the pumps for the cooling system and vacuum sections, and probably
significant HUMMMM from all the monster electro-magnets, and so forth,
will probably be pretty noisy...

IMHO anyway...

See if you can fine any sound-effects from the hadron super-collider. The machinery isnt
that far different in its required external 'support hardware"...

Thanks for your input. It´s not about a game!
I simply want to hear it. Just because. grin

Fair enough... I´ll look out for them.

-the humming of electromagnets
and the watersteam-turbine sound of the powerplat (in a
different room)

plus some air-ventilation

all with echo/reverb, as the reator-hall will have
lots of blank walls.

and some techniciants in jumpsuits and scientists dressed in white with a clipboard.

In the case of an evil villian, also some
minions in silly uniforms with MPs
