@RealSerious3D, well yeah technically i could use that and it wouldn't switch the screens, but the problem is that my laptop can only display 1600x900, where my HDTV has the full 1920x1080, so if i clone the image, i can't have full HD on my HDTV.
I believe that if you set your HDTV to be the main monitor and clone the monitor to your laptop, that you can still run the TV at 1920x1080, but that the laptop monitor will not show all the screen (portions of your display will be off the screen and you would have to use your mouse to "move" the screen to get to the portions that are off screen. I believe it all depends on which monitor is the prime.
