Will soon start a Modelcontest or is one open?

That is a good idea. Would be nice to see some news models that we can use...

i think a 3d model contest is something for the model
creating forums. As 3DGS is all about game and application
creation. (Total package)

By a 3D model contest you exclude all forum users that
are not able to create models and be fair we have a few
excellent specialist 3D model creators here

i just tried that and no one will join it without a prize like the aums contests. i even sent jcl a pm about support for it likean a8 com or pro but never got a response. new models would be great , but again without prize ... forget about it.

For a modelcontest, I would suggest doing something ELSE
than a "Make a Scifi Warrior with 20K polys" or "another AK47"

I would rather say:

Make a bundle pack. with a cosistent style.
such as

-male/female Models with exchangable cloth, hair, looks
-nature pack
-Building structure fragments (walls, doors, windows, roofs), using the same basetexture, for
people to asseble Buildings/structures out of it.
-pluggable streetsegments and street ambience modesl (signs/trafficlights)

The main focus, not beeing highpoly, but rather
keeping a specific style/quality over all models.

External models are only helpful if they fit seamingless
into the style of the project.
Thus a diverse bundle with variety - in medium quality - is more useful
than a single model in high Quality.

so i think noone here is perfect at modeling and coding an 2D grafiks and and and ... there are coder and modler and we work together to create games and stuff noone can do all alone ... so I´m a modeler i don´t know anything about the code XD if there will be a codingcontest i can do nothing ... but if there be a modelcontest i can entry an see waht other modlere skills are

i agree with undead. you cant say its unfair to give a contest that is modeling bcs coders cant join unless you consider that it makes it unfair to offer contests that require other parts that artists cant do. luckily i can do both, but never have time for contests.... *sadness*

When a game is created it's a total package most of the time
the creator has his own models or someone that works with it.
In my case a project won but the price went to my coder.
No more then fair since he coded the whole thing.
So i think if you create a game as team a price should be handled like this.

Don't get me wrong i like contests. But 3D model contest/speed model contest, are in my humple opinion for the forums specialist in that one area.


If i read some post here people like this contest so more
free models will be availeble ? I guess that's not the goal of
such a contest.
