I loved the deku leave from Wind Waker, somehow missed the freedom it gave me in WW while playing TP. I started with Link´s Awakening, btw. Next one was Oracle of Ages. My parents didnt allow me to buy a N64 back then, not even after my cry attack in the middle of a 'Karstadt'-store. grin
So I didnt play Ocarina of Time but the Master Quest version which was damned hard. I never finished it.
Something else to say...

..well, after all, Golden Sun is more epic! tongue
(Dark Dawn sucks)

A link to the past is overrated.

There, I said it. The truth is finally out.

It's not a bad game of course! Quite the contrary, in fact! But it *IS* overrated. It's not better than the other games. I find it to be an average zeldagame (personally placing it in the lower half of the zelda-list). Others had a overworld/dungeon-balance I preferred.

Also... WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU KIYAKU HOW CAN YOU RATE THE ORACLES SO LOW.

I mean, seriously.

~~~~~~~
Majoras Mask is a great experience and game. I really need to finish it someday.
It's still not very Zelda-ish, though! But it's great that NPCs actually have a backstory, react to events around them and, well... the athmosphere a few minutes before the world ends simply IS incredible.
Perhaps this post will get me points for originality at least.
Check out Dungeon Deities! It's amazing and will make you happy, successful and almost certainly more attractive! It might be true!
same thing thats wrong with you dude. how can you rate ALTTP so low? XD
Its the best zelda ever. Every game afer it followed its footsteps...
i think the oracle games rank among the worst zelda games. and that says alot about the series since the oracle games are awesome. but they are in my worst 5..
have a list:
01 - ALTTP
02 - TP
03 - MC
04 - LA
05 - MM
06 - OOT
07 - WW
08 - ST
09 - LOZ
10 - AOL
11 - OOS
12 - OOA
13 - 4SA
14 - 4S
15 - PH
There, I said it, I rank them even lower than Adventure of Link.
I dont know bout skyward sword yet so lets see how that list changes...
Yeah i agree with spike tongue LttP is awesome and not overrated, actually most of the people i talked with said they don't like LTTP so much and it seems like everyone loves OOT the most.
I grew up with Lttp, it was my first zelda, and i have beaten it trazillion times. Just listening to the Dark World or Forest theme gives me goosebumps grin
And Oracle of X's were not as good as the rest, seriously. Compare it to Links Awakening or Minish Cap... Minish Cap was freaking awesome.
And i rate Zelda 1 over Oracle just because i get this nostalgia feeling to it, which is awesome. Oracles were not bad games, but the others were just better tongue
If they would have released a Zelda 1 after Oracles, things would be different. It's all about nostalgia, memories and feelings grin
I grew up with adventure of link, I would rate it in the top 3. Also grew up with the oracles, so probably end up around 4, 5. Though haven't played all of them, nostalgia just plays a big role for me.
The original zeldas were/are awesome, and lttp was a good game too.
Minish Cap had nice atmosphere in some areas and they really capitalized on the 16-bit sound effects of the gameboy, but aside from those two things it was only a decent zelda game.
Ocarina of time was the first zelda I ever played, so I have some nostalgic attachment to it. But like I've said before, Majora's awesomeness just stomps this game into the ground. It's really too bad a lot of "fans" have shunned it for its differences.
Twilight Princess... Meh. Like everyone else in the world, I caught on to the hype early on. But personally, I was ultimately disappointed. This is pretty much how I see the creation of Twilight Princess:
Nintendo: "Ocarina of Time!"
Fans: "woot!"
Nintendo: "Majora!"
Fans: "wut?"
Nintendo: "Wind Waker!"
Fans: "um, oot clone plz..."
Nintendo: "Twilight Princess!"
Fans: "woot!"
frown
As for Oracle of X and the unmentioned others: I've never played them.
BTW has anyone played DarkSiders? It was one of the best games i've played in 2010 and i love the mix of zelda-ish dungeons, items, etc and devil may cry combat (also the combat got a bit too much in the end).
So yeah it gave me back this zelda gameplay feeling that i've missed for a while, you should at least give it a try, i know not many people like it somehow.
I don't know - I don't like Skyward Sword for some reason. For me the first trailer had something "wrong" in it, the actual game on the Gamescom left a really bad impression and now this trailer again fails to impress me in any means...
I don't like the graphics at all. The cartoony look makes everything look way more cheap than it should and so it looks worse than Twilight Princess although that was made just for the Gamecube (which is not THAT much inferior in terms of hardware but you'd expect a step forward rather than backwards for a Wii only title). It's not just about the bad graphics in general but also Link looks wrong. I mean really?
That's Link? You went for that after having this?
He looks like a puppet - especially the face. You also cannot really excuse that with the new art style. It's somehow "wrong" in my opinion. The new "enemy" doesn't look much better and in general I dislike his general appearance.
But oh well the graphics are just one part of a game. The rest doesn't impress me that much either though. It looks like most new stuff will be about swinging the remote around in cerain ways. Not really what I was looking for in a Zelda game...
I'll still wait for the final product but right now I'm not seeing me buying this as it seems to be a rather disappointing game in any aspect. BTW anyone noticed the totally boring and uninspiring music of the trailer? Yet again disappointing for a game in a series which always delivered fantastic tunes...
It's not about the technology. It's about the style.
And those are really low-res images, so it's kind of hard to judge from them anyway. :\
I saw it live at Gamescom and it didn't look any better. I had hope that it just was pretty early and non polished but nothing seems to have changed since then. It's sad because I like the Zelda games but this seems to be a crossbreed between the Twilight Princess and the cartoon style and I don't think that this style turns out very well. It makes the aged hardware even more obvious than it has to...
The gameplay also seems to drift into a direction which is "too much Wii-ish". I think it was a good idea to have this aiming via pointing the remote an the screen and things like that but I have the feeling that many puzzles will now be about Wii remote "minigames". It's still too early for a final verdict but that's the impression I get right now...
