Call Of Death

Watch out!

Because there's a zombie invasion, and someone is pretty pissed off about that. It's Dirty Dick Johnson, and we are proud to show you his new game named "Call of Death: Chapter one". It's a complete indy production, we are currently looking for publisher and are evaluating online distribution platforms.

YOUR MISSION:
You are Dirty Dick Johnson, a guy who doesn't care about anything but girls'n booze. But since the Pussy Palace, Big City's nr. 1 adress for first class adult dancing entertainment couldn’t open because of the zombie invasion, you'll have to make your way out into the city to bring back all the lost strippers. There might be some zombies in your way...

GAME FACTS:
* A fast paced first person SHOTER with a lot of action, hot babes and really black humor
* Easy accessable arcade gameplay, cinematic kill scenes and countless gallons of zombie blood to be shed
* Weapon shop with 12 weapons and a lot of additional items to be purchased
* 5 levels / 3 versions to play each map / 3 mini games to be revealed throughout the game
* 1st of 3 planned chapters

well, he could always sell it through a partner. in austria selling video games as small one man company not only is free and easy to set up, you also dont pay any taxes whatsoever under a certain sum of income and earnings. good way to make some money. i use this system since 07. now if i would just actually sell a few copies of my games id be a well made man XD

There are two kinds of taxes: your personal income (is tax free for the first 10.320euro you earn) and the company taxes that are not free and not limited.
the 30k limit a year is not free of taxes, its a possibility to register a "small business" so you dont have to write bills and charge the vat from other companies.
A lot less paperwork but you can not get back money from the irs either.

If your company makes 30k a year you will have to pay about 6k vat taxes.
(You wont sell your goods to other companies so there is a 20% vat you will have to transfer).

IF you pay yourself the rest 24k a year, you will have to pay:

social security payments:
first 7500 is free so its 16.500.
health is about 17%, social and unemployment are about 15% and retirement is about 9%
about 41%

so 16.500 x 41% = 6765euro a year = about 500bucks a month

taxes:
24.000income minus the 6765 social payments = 17.235euro
the first 10k is tax free 17.235-10000 = 7235

the first tax stage (10k to 24k income) is 12%:
7.235 x 12% = 1013euro

total payments:
7235 + 1013 = 8248euro a year.

24000 - 8248 = 15.752euro income = 1.300 a month

The average rule is:
You can keep 50% of every euro you earn.

Whoever told you that you wont have to pay taxes if your company earns less then 30k a year is an idiot!

I know you dont have to pay taxes in Dubai and you dont have to pay taxes for a profession you can not exercise in Switzerland. Thats all the tax free countries i know wink

I didnt want to argue about taxes in general but the fact that if you turn your gamemaking idea into a business there are laws and limitations.
Its basicly about all the "Hi, My name is Timmy, I am 13 years old and the CEO of KickYourBalls enterprise, and i want to create the next super mario mmo and we will share the share once we are there"...

Hardly any user offering stuff on the gs forum has (or at least displays) a tax vat id on their website. Illegal.
Some think you can sell games without a trade license. also not possible.
some think you can sell games everywhere and anyway you like. not working.

and some think you can finish a game like this duke nukem copy from a basic demo to full sellable without funding.....optimistic

I think the work done till now is professional and well made. you got a demo, there is some gameplay and everything looks like you know what you are doing.
The game on the other hand? I dont see one single reason why i should play it.
I can also see why no publisher would touch it.
The game offers nothing great but tons and tons of distribution problems plus its made by one unknown indy....hard to sell!
The project lacks some basic idea that seperates them from all other fps games plus ths visuals are shit compared with the new high budget beasts. so one more reason to find something why people want to play it.
And the timing is aweful as well with the dukes suicide mission right now.

I have a hard time finding anything positive here but the fact that you got some stuff finished so far.

i didnt say income i said earnings. or in good old germany:

umsätze bis 30k sidn steuerfrei. das ist so. nicht dass mich das was anginge weil i eh kan cent verdien mit dem gamedesign zeug aber so isses halt XD

back to topic:
still. cancelling a "finished" game just because a steam deal fell through is kinda the wrong move. you really should just release it online. either publish yourself or look for a small publishing partner. ask oliver2s for example...
