Is there a way to block applications from messing with my volume settings in Windows 7? It is really starting to get on my nerves when applications think they know better what volume which program should be.

Just as an example, I tried playing the Sanctum beta today and everytime I started the program, it set it's volume to 10% as well as mumble's volume.

I already found options to disable this volume messing in Mumble and Skype, but I need some way of globally stopping applications from messing with my settings!
