It`s not my own project. But I thought it would be nice to have it in the Showcase.

Supercan is the new Action Adventure Jump&Run by Sobee Studios. The game offers about two to three hours of gameplay and is freely available on the official homepage. Language is Turkish. The project has more than 70000 "I like"s on Facebook.

The game is based on GameStudio A8 by Conitec and Shade-C by BoH_Havoc (http://shadec.project-havoc.com/).

Update: Phone activation no longer exists.

Story is pretty much that the SuperCan is a wannabe-super-hero that saves forests from evil robots(and the company producing them) that cut down trees.

to get it straight again:

this is an advertisement game. they had a truckload of budget. the amrvel characters are part of the advertisement deal with the turkish telecom company. there you go...

I posted an example which uses add_buffer on the main thread while loading the stuff in the background. Saying "feature XYZ" doesn't work because one used function isn't thread safe is a lame excuse, you can always delegate stuff to the main thread.
So yeah, that add_buffer is thread safe is good to know, but even if it would summon ugly fairies in the background would not be a showstopper for background loading.

Yes, I hadn't really thought about whether add_buffer()'s thread-safety mattered, and got ahead of myself.

Actually it's a great excuse. add_buffer() was the wrong function to be concerned about, for sure, but if "feature XYZ" is loading data in the background without interrupting game-flow, then the lack of thread-safety of a function is about as perfect as an excuse can get. add_buffer() doesn't matter because it's not the reason it's slow.
