I think this needs a little clarification. Obama doesn't support SOPA/PIPA because he thinks its a poor political move (which it is). Republicans support it because they think their voters want to see unflinching ideals (which, to a degree, is also true). None of them (Mr. President included) know what it's really all about, nor what kind of an impact it would have on the internet or humanity as a whole. The important thing to realize is that they are all politicians at heart.

In related news, this really makes me sick:

Obama doesn't, but you do? Makes me wonder why he became president and not you.

Yeah really, all a president needs to know is that the damn interwebs isn't a series of tubes. The rest isn't of interest in a country!

Knowing where you typically stand on political issues, I can't say that I know whether or not this is a statement about the inefficacy of Obama or just a sarcastic disagreement with what I said. Sid seems to think the latter, but personally I'm not really sure.

If it were as simple as that, the bill wouldn't exist at all. Obama (and the rest of the Democratic party) hasn't given me any proof that he knows what he's talking about here. Just because he's on the right side of the fight doesn't mean he actually knows what he's talking about. He's just a crowd pleaser who's trying his hardest to be reelected this year. In fact, when he launched an executive order a few years ago to equip himself with a Blackberry, despite warnings that he could put our national security at risk, I was less than impressed with his grasp of all matters technical.

That said, I stand by my belief that both Republicans and Democrats are typically inexperienced and unsophisticated politicians whose only differences are, generally speaking, the political banners they serve under.

Well, you are not half wrong, simply because politicians are old. Like i said in my video, your grandparents want to control the internet.
We need more young and active politicians, people that know tehir way around work and not lawyers and law students who never worked and now are old men...

Very off-topic. This I do with a heavy heart, as I consider this topic to be important enough to warrant a honest discussion.

Fucking republican old people...

the us congress may only have [old] people around the age of 70 (thats an average) but obama knows that the votes come from the young people.

Old men... ARE THE FUTURE

Perhaps this post will get me points for originality at least.

SOPA? That's Terror.

This humourous response may or may not have been thought up by myself.
