GS is fantastic. I still recommend it to those looking into game-dev, even though Windows-exclusive games are, collectively, a ball and chain around the ankles of PC gaming as a platform.

It's because we love GS that we don't let important Future forum threads die without being absolutely certain jcl understands every minute detail of the request grin

I love GS. In combination with other programs like 3dsMax it offers everything I need to visualize my dreams.

*high five* to all Gamestudio lovers!

I play with it since A5 and use it seriously since A7. (But it's still like a game)
Forget the bright shining unity, when you have GS with his great beep sounds and rancid old template models.
This is nostalgia, baby!

3DGS is fine, I like it because at the moment good for my purposes. There are things to love and to hate, similarly to other engines. But it's not real love (yet) grin
I need no shiny editors, but a much better SED would be fine. And better conversion dlls in MED.
What I really need and get: fast and simple scripting, fast rendering with simple LOD system, helpful community (not huge with kids only), and a flexible licence pricing (not like "the Borg" Unity).
What I really don't understand, why Conitec does not provide semi-professional looking open source sample games, as other engine developers do (including engines developed by one person, like Neoaxis and Esenthel), to demonstrate and really proof the engine's capabilities... Those template demos in AUMs are not too up-to-date examples (but definitely good for kids to start game creation).

True, the old Models and Textured used by Conitec and the AUMs are all borring to look at and most likely scare alot people away nowadays who never saw GS befor.
But, for people who can see beyond that its just fine to use them because you see the "Guard" Model and know the engine can handle this model so it can handles all kind of models and art you just need the right skills, which you need for all engines.
So i say the point is more to show the engine functions.
Now i know GS can handle all kind of art, now i wanna know if it can handle all the necessary functions, and that is what the AUMs are for.
As we said before, unfortunally it will scare alot people away, but atleast GS is honest and not a fake package laugh
