What AO-technique are you using? It is a simple (and slow) 4x8 depthmap sample comparision. It adds or sustracts from a starting 0.5 value without taking account of depth difference. Since the camera angle mantaines the polygon depth into a small range, it works good and looks plausible. I have to improve the algorithm in order to reduce the depthmap samples, something like the pixel coord based vector election of your SSAO shader edited. I move the samples center in sun light direction for each step too.

Thanks Great to hear that you like it, since it was a lot of work for me. @3run yes this is a spotlight. performance is okay as long as you don't use too many lights (max number is 16 at the moment)

4 should be okay, and there is still room for performance improvements (the code im currently using is unoptimized)
10 Were still okay for me but that also depends on the scene complexity (especially number of objects)
