with a few alpha/beta testers they could avoid such a situation... and by a more clever response on hard critics.

They could have avoided such a situation, if they had only charged 2$ for their game. In my opinion it qualifies only for a free game given away as a hobby project.
But a much lower pricetag would have generated much less anger about their product.

Exactly. I hate unprofessionel youtubers who have crappy looking and sounding shows and have such annoying personalities. Their critique has, in my eyes, not much value, because there is too much you could critizise on the show itself.

The game is bad, no question, but it is covered enough through more or less professional channels.
