, great! For me personally I am often wary of difficulty in 2d games cause of the limited evasion (/only 2 dimensions) and one hit is one kill games.

I'm working on a pixel shader that uses a flowmap for water. Since it is more or less working the next steps are:
-Resolve the pulsating effect
-Improved perturbation of the water.
It'll keep me busy researching and tweaking, but I'm enjoying it.
