As pointed out in the manual, US residents are hamstrung by reduced assets, leverage, etc., to the extent that returns can not only be reduced, but in some cases profitable systems can become losers.

Searching in the manual & forum didn't provide much more insight, so wondering if someone has "been there, done that" and evaluated the Z Systems in this context? I'm interested in this from both the specific & general points of view. For US residents & their legally-limited capabilities:

- Is any Z System (or a few) clearly better than the others?

- More generally, is any algorithm (or a few) more likely to result in a profitable system?

Thanks.

Thanks @danatrader.

Would appreciate a bit more detail... Are you US-based and have tested/run them all?

Thanks.

In Europe it is meanwhile worse than in the US. Not only have we now also low leverage, we cannot even trade US ETFs anymore. So be glad that you're in the US.

Worst to come in 2021 with the Scholztax for Germans.
Than we can trade nothing anymore.

Hmmm... Starting to sound like kinda hard to be glad anywhere! laugh

But the basic question remains, if someone(s) has already been there, done that: Given the US (or EU or wherever) restrictions, what works? Or alternatively what is a waste of time?

Or is it all hopeless? frown

The grass is always greener on the other side. Everyone has constraints, so can we all stop feeling sorry for ourselves? tongue

If you know how to identify the constraints, then you should better know which trading system is a good fit. (Or perhaps you'd be better off designing your own system to suit.)

Here are the constraints for USA residents:
* Can trade with portfolio margin (~6x leverage) with stocks and ETF's if your account size is greater than $100k and regulation T margin (2x leverage) for lesser accounts, and cash only for micro accounts.
* Cannot day trade stocks and ETFs with an account smaller than $25k.
* Can day trade futures and forex with any account size.
* Forex leverage is super low and has weird FIFO laws. (Consider forex futures instead.)
* Futures leverage is high for day trading only and medium for long term positions. (Contract specifications vary. Margin requirements vary per broker.)
* Margin requirements for futures traders favor traders with large accounts.
* CFD's are illegal.
* Options trading of futures, equities, and ETFs is legal.

And of course, read the manual's description of the Z systems.

Thanks AndrewAMD.

But ... it's so much fun feeling sorry for ourselves, isn't it?! laugh And where the grass is greener is a separate issue - as is how to make the grass greenest for us all!

I haven't come across such a comprehensive list before - thanks again!

Now to work, hopefully including someday creating a decently profitable system for US use - one of the holy grails...

Regards,.

For what it’s worth, I do have my own trading system for USA traders with $100k+ accounts. It trades stocks on NYSE and NASDAQ. (Come to think of it, there's no ETF's, so most everyone in the world can trade it.)

It’s pretty good. I’ve sold two licenses for it as of this writing. I’ve been meaning to write about it on my blog.

Not (yet, hopefully) in that league, but good to know it's possible.

Look forward to reading about it! Please let us know when you post something on the blog...

Regards.
