Hi,
I found Zorro in a list of algo trading tools and it is new to me. The tool looks very sensible, but there is one detail that looks problematic for me. It seems that zorro is only compiled for windows? Is there a possibility to use linux? I have no windows machines for a while now and my workflow is not setup for windows.

thanks

Why not? Zorro with Wine works like a charm

You have three choices:
1) Use Windows, the OS it was designed for.
2) Use Linux, but with Wine (or similar emulator).
3) Not use Zorro.

Note that for option 1, you can set up an additional computer (workstation / sever / VPS) and log into it remotely from your Linux desktop with an RDP/VNC client.

Hi it does work, but the issue of the window not refreshing is annoying...did you find a solution other than the workaround mentioned ?

This has been reported on the Wine bug forum, but there was never any feedback from their devs.

So winehq is ignoring...the bug seems similar to these 'redrawing' issues that some other apps have (also unsolved as yet). Especially since the buttons reappear when the mouse goes over them. I don't understand enough about GDI etc to really get my head around this - I guess we'll just have to live with it !

They only seem to care when it's a wide used piece of software, at least, that's my gist of it.

I simply try to keep the Zorro window maximized. In case you minimize it by accident, there's always the 'script name.log' file to check.

To expand slightly on @AndrewAMD's comment, 1) and 2) can also be accomplished via virtualization - i.e., running Windows or Wine in a VM or container. On my Linux machine I have a Linux VM in which Wine runs Zorro.

And there's also 4): Wait for / Pray for / Help Zorro to run native on Linux! laugh

FYI, 2.50 has introduced a bug/annoyance which I have not yet tried to debug - after Posting this I will Post an initial report about that in the Zorro Future section.

HTH.
