What is APlanner ?

APlanner is a small paint program which can be useful to sketch very large
maps, based on a bmp x/y file array. It could be useful, if you want to sketch
your open world game ideas quickly. Aplanner creates its BMPs in the folder
in which it is started with filenames representing the position in the bmp array.
Because today every PC has lots of HD space, I let Aplanner create plain bmps.
Also jpgs could be problematic, because they tend to loose quality when reloaded
again and again.

From the info box of Aplanner:

APlanner is a small programm that let you sketch your game map or
other large maps in a tiled X/Y bmp-file array.
Press right mousebutton for mini control panel.
Press N,S,W,E Buttons to move through bmp-array.
If a bmp exists it will be loaded. If not, a new one will be created. Actual screen
will be saved to its position when moving to neighbour screens.
For color choice press button
B=Black, R=Red, G=Green, B=Blue T=Text.
Keys: U = UNDO. C = Clear Screen. 1,2,3 = Pencil Size.
Press V for an overview of actual screen + surrounding ones.
While Sketching press arrow keys to flip through the bmp array.
Clipboard is always used for UNDO-Screen.
APlanner should work with any screen resolution
APlanner is released "as is" Software.
This program is copyrighted freeware.

Problem was that APlanner lost path to work dir after using direct load. Now fixed.

OK. I updated Aplanner to that what it should be.

From the Readme.txt :

Aplanner 0.2 Update Info

Usage:
Left mouse button for drawing and selecting buttons in the info box.
Right mouse button to call/toggle the info box.
Read the info box for using keys in Aplanner.

Update info Mai 2025:
Grey or white background setting is now only possible once at the beginning
of the bmp array creation process. The color choice will be saved and then
used for all bmps. So the color choice can not be changed once the bmp array
was started. Aplanner then uses the background color you have selected the first time automatically.
Your choice is saved in the bckcolor.inf file.

If cou want to start a new bmp array with a different color simply copy the
Aplanner.exe (only !) into a new Folder and start Aplanner to create a new bmp array with your new color choice.

IF you want to get rid of your bmps simpy delete them in windows explorer.

Bugfixes:
Displayed screen is now saved savely when exiting Aplanner.
Drawing color is now kept when moving to another bmp.
Pen size is also kept when moving to another bmp.
Text background in white background canvas mode is is now also white.
Default pen size is now 2.

Sorry for the inconvieniences, but strangely enough nobody complained about these bugs.

This program is mobile. There is no installation procedure necessary and no changes to your registry will be made.
The Program was written in XProfan (RGH Software) and should run on Win 95 to Win 10.

The Zip file was checked by a popular antivirus Software before I uploadet it.

Download did not work because of wrong file name. Sorry.

(Sometimes things are all too confusing for me. Drives me insane)

Files not saving automaticly after closing program
the only way to save image- its jump to other image, and close program after it
and program will be more useful, if you can show parts of neighbor images

When ending Aplanner (Amapper4) normaly with using the exit button the actual screen is (!) saved correctly. All other surrounding bmps have been saved before. So use the exit button to end the program correctly. Do not close the dialog box by clicking on the x in the Dioalog window, because then you "kill" the dialog box. The dialog box then can not be called with the right mousebutton anymore when you try it. That leads to an instant crash of Aplanner. So use the EXIT button to end the progam, this is the pupose of this button. The actual display will be saved before the program closes. The LMB/RMB user interface is very comfortable and fast. Thats why I designed Aplanner this way.

I downloaded Aplanner 2 (!) from here and checked it and it worked correctly. So no need for for another bugfix, I think.
