I was just curious before i tried this. I know when you set a light source it's a sphere based projection. I was curious, say if i make a flouresant light bulb, a long rectangular shape, if i made the model emit light, would the light be in the shape of the model? Also, is the current fog, light sensitive. For example, say i have a grate with fog on either side pasing through it. If i had a light source on one side would it make a light beam like volumetric effects? Or would there be anyway to script this.

inferris:

If you want a rectangular light then put a light source inside a rectangular opening made in WED. A rectangular shape of light will then be projected from the opening.

No you will not see light 'beams' in the fog. You can fake the effect to a certain extent useing sprites.

james is correct on his advice and sprites do work very well for this kind of effect.

Just a thought, your "sunbeams" could probably be created by using a modified lens flare script.

I'm not going to bother faking it, people can tell. Thats really disapointing that having a model emulate light does'nt make the model actually emulate light, it just turns the model into a place holder for a sphereical light. Thats quite cheap. Also the light sources dont react corectly to shadows, like the sun settings do...
