I suggest changing the forum around a bit, with two Job groups.

1. Jobs Offered / Biete Job (Paid positions)
2. Help Wanted (Unpaid / team positions)

Or rename Jobs Offered to "Help Wanted"

with some kind of administration that "Jobs" posted are actually Jobs.

No, because most of the "commissions projects" are projects that are never finished. (if I understand the "commission" right, I suppose the "you get paid when the game's published"-thing).

But the original idea is great *support*

Well let's put it this way.

No 1. If someone was so great at their job why are they wasting their time here?

No 2. Someone that was offering cash upfront for a big project would have thousands of dollars. And would not look here for team members.

so there is no point with the 2 job sections if one of them will never be filled

1) Because this is the official (and the biggest) 3DGS forum, and there are still a lot of developers that use the A6. Just look at the SC2, there aren't few published projects.

2) I could search some threads now but I'm too lazy - just believe me, there are people that work with A6 and have a budget. LDD for example seems to be pretty successful, and if you have a look at their prices, it's clear that there are people here with a real budget who can afford such services.

Asking people to do work for you "on spec" for some kind of vague commission isn't really a job position.

DLS probably regrets asking:

"No 1. If someone were so great at their job why are they wasting their time here?"

So if you feel that way, then are you recruiting your project here? and how "great at *your* job" would you be, as a project leader? If "not so great", like the rest of us supposedly are, then why should we trust you to sell your games at $40 apiece and pay us these commissions?

Sorry, I don't want to burst your bubble, but the signal to noise ratio in this forum group is intolerable.

I think this is a fantastic idea.

I've rarely heard the word "commission" in game development circles. This is perhaps because of it's ambigious meaning...it could mean pay-when-published...it could mean you are in charge of selling an already made product and receive commission on sales...etc. But I've never heard of people "Developing on a Commission"

Wrong. I have thousands of dollars (tens of thousands in a month or two when my grant starts) for my projects and I ALWAYS offer cash upfront. I have met with TREMENDOUS success recruiting from right here and I can only say that I would be even more successful if we could separate the jobs wanted as suggested.

This is an excellent suggestion. I rarely even bother to look in this forum because of the situation. Having two separate ones would be very encouraging.

No 1. If someone was so great at their job why are they wasting their time here?
This is a very bad attitude. People are here because they enjoy the work they are doing. Many here are hobbiests and are honing their skills. There is a lot of talent here.

No 2. Someone that was offering cash upfront for a big project would have thousands of dollars. And would not look here for team members.

I would not hesitate to recruit here. As I said, I think there is a lot of talent here.

It is an excellent suggestion and I definitely think that it would benefit the community as a whole because then people who are looking for serious work can go look in the paid section, and those who are pure hobbyists can look into the unpaid section.

Personally, I wont waste my time answering dls 2 questions as they have been effectively answered already. Plus, as dls is new to the forums, he/she potentially has not had a chance to grasp the community dynamic and to fully see what is being worked on by people on these forums (Like Fastlanes MP Work, theKid, anything done by Nardalus, BBR, etc...)

Regards,
Ayrus
