Do you think those features will come any faster if they name the next update A7?

Yes, because they could charge money for this kind of update

They won't get money untill they release A7 and untill they do they will have the same development speed as they do now. They could ofcourse release a half-assed A7 soon but many people would be upset.(Fortunately that isn't conitecs style)

Not Pro, but most likely Com edition. A7 is very unlikely to be out any time soon, possibly into even 2007. From what I know, Conitec does give a 6 month warning/notice when this would happen which would place it already into at soonest, September 2006. Conitec will unlikely give you a time for an estimated release date. The 6.4 update has been 15 months in the workings right now as it's still only in beta (public beta, the final adjustments). A6 still has many features planned for it yet so it still has a lot of life left in it (as if the health bar was 60% full).

No actually I just want more features and a damn WYSIWYG world editor!!!
I am thinking about buying Torque or licensing the Reality Engine if I have enough
money, I just need soft shadows and WYSIWYG...

then save some money and do so...

according to conitec (i hope i dont mix up anything) all forcast points are ment to be for the A6 engine.
so everything listed there will be implemented sooner or later to a6.

so there is no need to ask for the a7 allready. more interesting would be the next dates and features for the next update.

cheers

octree will come ..and for a6.. hahhahahaa yeah of corse
we had this discussion years ago, anyway, what me thinks is a6 will become just some thing to not disapoint the users, but all the other things goes to a7,so yeah,i would upgrade inmediatly if octree would be in,of corse, free of bugs and not having to go the whole world to get some format properly and textured into a6\a7

i am not sure if you have been here the last few months or if you kept record about the latest conitec updates but allready implemented is the choice between concave and convex block systems.
according to jcl´s post where he mentioned not yet to use this feature because the engine will still use bsp now and octree will follow later.

i personaly assume that the first tests and usable octree versions will come with a6.5
though this is just a guess and depends more on conitec then on you or me

still, as far as i know and conitec or anyone else might correct me here, but all forcast topics are ment to be included in the 6 version of the gs engine. none of them is a7.
so if you can read "octree culling" there it will be released for a6 as well. though this still wont tell you when

cheers

"but all forcast topics are ment to be included in the 6 version of the gs engine"

JCL said that around 1 year ago. A long time. But I'm really sure that Octree Culling and the new Light-Managment will make it in A6.5.

sure like all the others are sure? or sure like insider information? if useable octree geometry will make it into 6.5 and if the poor stencil shadows will be fixed then i will be really happy.

...
jcl said lite-c will be for a7.
