I have been developing a terrain for a few hours, and have just come across this engine error:

$$$.HMP Bad file format

This error shows both with the engine preview in MED, as well as when you run a level in WED... Any assistance would be appreciated. My files name is...

level1_terrain1

Terrains must not exceed 65,535 vertices (or is it 32,767?). If your terrain has more than that, either use the new terrain chunking feature in 6.4 (caution: public beta - it will have bugs in it), or break the terrain into smaller chunks.

Ok, the files read now... I am not entirely sure what I did to fix it. All i did between this post and the files working is log offline. Either way, ulillilia, my terrain is only 4500 vertecies, so not sure what was going on. Thanks for the help.

4500 vertices is no where near the limits so you should be perfectly fine with that. Given the "$$$.HMP" name, for some reason you may have pointed to the wrong file when loading it into WED and otherwise contains invalid characters (use alpha-numeric characters (the underscore _ is also accepted)).

I have run into the exact same problem as befor. The engine, for an unknown reason, does not like the .HMP format. Once again, it sais that <$$$.hmp> is not an accepted format. I dont know if there is a way to define the file that the engine is pointed to, but this is the problem ulillillia suggested, and frankly, I think that may be the issue. If anyone has an answer, it would be greatly appreciated, seeing as this is getting a little annoying. If not, I will most likely have to email conitec about the problem. Thank you again!
