If you're after protecting your game files, use Molebox. Molebox not only encrypts your files, but it also compresses them to make the resulting EXE smaller than it and the game files.

Molebox isn't free. With Gamestudio's engine now being a DLL (a change I seriously dislike), you have to get Molebox Pro as Molebox standard doesn't pack DLLs. Standard costs $59 and Pro costs $119, nearly double that. Pro also offers other advantages as well such as for making patches for your game (to some extent, provided you can work around the part of not being able to modify files). There's a free trial version for Molebox, but you can't distribute anything with it (as the license agreement says).
I've heard of Nacasi as well, of which, I think, is free, but I've heard reports that it causes some virus scanners to give false positives.

Yeah, I know. I have both 6.31.4 and 6.40.5. My 2D game is only meant for 6.31.4 so at least Molebox standard would work well for my 2D game. I agree with the ease of use part. I'll be Moleboxing my 2D game likely within 2 to 4 weeks and releasing it for sale. Combining compression with encryption makes it trickier to hack into. I wonder if you can double-molebox something to add a second encryption layer. I often end up double-zipping files (with the ZIP file often compressing better than 3:1, unusually high for compressed files). The big trouble I had with Molebox was figuring out how to order it. Hotmail E-mails aren't accepted and since I didn't have anything else at the time, I soon thought of ordering it over the phone (seeking support about this).
