I noticed that in 6.4 MED there is no more option to load MD2/export models and that was very usefull option together with milkshape. You can fast make any animation there and simply export to MD2 and import in MED.

Is it possible to make it back?
Thank you

Not trying to knock your thread or anything but I would like
this back (.MD2) as well as .AQM
both offer good imports back into MED.

I haven't yet confirmed the removal of support for 'useful' formats, and as a general rule I don't use or abuse the smilies, but if support for 'useful' formats has been, is being, or will be removed, and there aren't really 'valid' reasons for doing so, then be warned, you will make me do it. I will not have any other choice and I won't hold back.

I will insert an angry smilie face ...The resulting contradictions may cause any infinite properties of the universe to immediately vanish.

Okay. I have another im-/export problem.

The MED from the 6.31 edition can export to MDL5 and this file can be imported into Milkshape.

The new MED MDL5 files cannot be imported into Milkshape.

opening/importing MD2 and .x are still supported by MED 6.814 but not exporting to

I don't think the MDL5 format has changed. Milkshape mdl5 importer think has always been pretty picky though.

Grimber. There is a difference. Just try it. I can use the old 6.31 to get a model out of MED via MDL5 but not with any 6.4 edition. I do that often since this is my way to get the models from Gamestudio to Lightwave (via Milkshape).

I have and do saved models done in MDL7 to MDL5 and then imported them into Milkshape with MDL5 importer. if the model is boned you have to convert it to vertex ( point) animation before saving to MDL5.

I do this often because I like using the materials tool in Milkshape ( about the only thing I use Milkshape for)

MD2 export was extremelz usefull when you wanted to change something in current animated model from MED. That way you symply export to md2 import into milkshape and do whatever you need. Whithout it practically we dont have options to export animated models and thats I really need.
So please JCL, is there any chance we could get back this feature in new update, I dont think that youll have a too much trouble to do that.
Thank you

As a rule of thumb, we'll never remove a useful feature. If you think otherwise, you can be quite sure that you either misunderstood something or that feature was not useful.

This is the case for an MD2 exporter. MD2 was a Quake format from 6 years ago that used a low resolution for skins and vertex positions. If your model is any detailed, its animation would be badly garbled by the export process.

However, we'll look into the MDL5 issue.
