Hi all,

nullarbor is back for another year, so if you have your game or demo put together nows the time to check it out and get your entry together.

the first place prize is $2000, take a look at the website:
http://www.notrees.org

you can still enter the competition even if you are not comming to the event - but only australians are eligiable for the cash prize.

hope to see you there!

Anyone who resides in australia or new zealand may enter. Only one team member from your entry must be australian. The only requirement is that you must have an australian bank account to claim cash prizes, or are present at the event.

I'd love to enter this, but I'm afraid it's not very tempting when I can't win money with it , nor do I think it's actually allowed.

If I understand the rules correctly only Australians and New Zealand people may enter, but only if they've got a Australian bank account or are present at the nullarbor 2007 event itself. So international entries are not even eligible to enter it, right???

Cheers

No, international entries are accepted, but you can not win any prizes.

If an international entry wants to win prizes there are two possibilities:
1. You come to the event yourself
2. You team up with an australian or nz residant and enter a 'team' entry (eg: find an australian to do the music for your game, and enter it on your behalf.) - obviously it is up to you to come to an agreement as to how to split the winnings.

The links page on the nullarbor site lists a number of australian digital content creation community areas where you can try to find a local representative for your entry.

Since the event takes place at GO3 it would still make sense to enter as one of the buyers there might see your game and contact you about it. Or, one of the international game companies there could contact you regarding employment. (Take a look at the GO3 exhibitors & conference speakers list : MS xbox, nintendo, nvidia, EA, etc.)

Edit: see the (updated) FAQ: http://www.notrees.org/2007/faq

The contest is over and the results are in:
http://www.notrees.org/2007/php/results

There were 38 entries this year (15 game entries), the winning entry was Dust, closely followed by the linux game "Zyberflux".

I've registered as Majestic, I'll get some of my games graphics design friends from RMIT to come along as well as we're in the CBD 24/7 pretty much.

@ Chaotic Dragon, I think you do have to travel to demo your project unless you get a third party to display it for you, better double check with the host though

@ e64, see you've pre-registered also, I'll see you there then!
