Hi there, to cite my own blog entry, "I am back and ready to go!!!" This thread is maybe a bit promotional for myself but I hope you neglect this because I am also seeking for critics :-)

After a pause of one year (you may have noticed that my site didn’t changed after adding "The Lotter-Effect") I was a bit frustrated about the graphics and layout of my website which was sort of a hybrid between a portfolio and a running development blog. I wanted a new portfolio that has less information, more imagery and a blog that keeps track of my running projects.

Today I released everything at the same time: my portfolio which features only the best of my work so far and a development blog which features all my work and everything else, updated from time to time in the future with hot news about my developments and everything related to Gamestudio, game development and so on - I hope. I really felt constricted because I had no platform to presentate current stuff without frightening professional people which obviously shall not see unpolished things and experimental stuff.

My relaunched portfolio: http://www.christian-behrenberg.com
My dev blog: http://www.entCreate.com

After finishing this (and SynView, see other thread), I am heading to make new and improved versions of my FMOD wrapper and my font renderer because I want to re-start the development of Razor for my Valentine as long term project rather doing contest-motivated stuff as I did since STROMBERG. I need these two things and I will upload them as soon as I finished it.

There is also another thing to come in the near future which I cannot speak about for legal reasons right at the moment, so stay tuned! I am so happy to step my foot back into the door of the whole gamedev stuff!!!

Please drop some critics and be as negative as hell... that motivates me like nothing else.

Cheers,
-- Christian

Very nice redesign, nice work as always, everthing fits.
But since you asked for c&c:

- the search box on entCreate.com is rather pale
- so is the "portfolio of" text on your portfolio

(but may also be my laptop lcds fault)

- the white background boxes as seen on http://www.christian-behrenberg.de/work/SynView.html look a bit lost, are they supposed to build a continuous background ?

- IE8 does it wrong - again http://666kb.com/i/bbkssv35pfbevae99.jpg

- a RSS feed of the blog would be nice

hope that's enough motivation for now laugh

Hi, thanks! The IE8 brings a bit trouble, I'll fix it soon. The blog is driven via Wordpress.. lets see how I can turn on such a feed.

[EDIT] Should work now. Never trust CSS compressors!

Cheers,
Christian

works like a charm, except the classes for the links e.g. the "Download" and "Media" links on http://www.christian-behrenberg.de/work/SynView.html are rendered in typical IE blue, the :hover class however works fine.

Hm I used there the inherit tag, obviously IE8 doesnt support this. I placed there now the right color, although my IE8 previously displayed it right.

Nevertheless, thanks again!

I like what I see laugh
Nice and clean look, and white on purple looks surprisingly good!

The "Relaunch"-page on your portfolio is a bit too busy for my tastes - lots of things flying around in those three boxes! I know that presenting all that stuff seperately would make the page rather long, but maybe something similar to the Work-overview (where you select the project) would work better here!
... But then again, that page definately isn't the most important (even though its featured quite prominently on the main page!)

Apart from that, I really like the look-and-feel. Good job!

NITPICKS GALORE

A note on the text of "Monster Mega Mayhem": I feel like the last sentence would sound better as "As you kill people and scare kids for points, you will encounter [MARKETINGSPEECH GO!! dozens of] strange events!". It's really more a textflow-kind of thing (at first I thought that "I had to encounter strange events", you know, like thats the goal here

Additionally, the screenshot with the bodyguard is kind of weird, since the speech-bubble seems to disappear right then (and, honestly, it's really not that great of a screen to begin with, what with those barrel-things :P).

On your "Resúmé" (god, do you really spell it like that? grin ) page, the presumed "at" shows up as a delta for me. Shouldn't it be something more like an "@"? I mean, I obviously know all those spam-countermeasures. But a delta is kind of weird

I guess the stars below all that stuff that you're capable of doing represents your skilllevel at them, right? Assigned pretty much by yourself? Maybe you could make that clearer simply by adding a mouseover-text to the stars. Maybe not, though.

...

All in all, I really like your new blog and portfolio. I'm not a web- or graphics designer, though, so take everything I said with a grain (a large grain) of salt. Maybe it's better to ignore it all completely.

Pleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease tell me that you're going to offer at least a very small portion of the C-Script-compatible version. Pleasepleaseplease?

Pretty please?

Perhaps this post will get me points for originality at least.

Check out Dungeon Deities! It's amazing and will make you happy, successful and almost certainly more attractive! It might be true!

Error, thanks for your comment! That is what I am looking for. I'll take a shot on these things tomorrow!

@FMOD: you can use the DLL in Lite-C and C-Script environments. No two DLLs.. just one. Same feature set. Full FMOD feature set. Demos (for debugging purposes as well) and manual is finished for about 80%. Coding is 100% done. So.. well. Freak out!

[EDIT] RSS feeds for entCreate!!! are working now

"Student (applied computer scienes) - heading for B.Sc. diploma"

should be scienCe(s) and it's usually 'degree' rather than 'diploma' (at least here in the UK) but you may want to reconsider the sentence structure if you decide to change that.

Edit: Also this ' In addition, he could store his design, retrieve a preview as PDF file and load a design at a later time.' should read 'In addition THEY could store THEIR design, retrieve a preview as PDF file and load it at a later time.'

Unless you want to be sexist wink Maybe consider using a plural there as well? Unless the users were limited to create only one design wink

Hi Michael, thanks for your hints - I changed the things you've mentioned. And no, I am not a sexist - "the user" is a male noun and so I intuively used "his" ;-) thanks for pointing that out!
