Nullarbor is a combined demoparty and game development competition. It is an event designed to bring together a community of Australian programmers, designers, artists and musicians to promote interactive technologies and a form of electronic art called demos.

The event will be held at ECU Mount Lawley, School of Computer and Information Science in Perth, Western Australia on Thursday the 23rd of February 2006.

There are hundreds of dollars worth of prizes to be won, with a $500 AUD first place prize in the game development competition! (If you wish, you can make a non-interactive demo version of your game and enter it into the demoscene competition)

Entry is open to all Australian and New Zealand residents. Can't get to Perth? You can enter remotely and compete for cash prizes!

For more information visit http://www.notrees.org

nullarbor is sponsored by SCIS @ ECU, Adrian Boeing and Pilgrimage

Actually, your machinima would be a most welcome entry into the demo (non-interactive) section of the competition. As long as it runs in realtime on the competition machine.

The max file size is a bit small, and it looks like you have to attend in person. Otherwise it looks great, and I'd like to participate.

You don't need to attend to be able to participate, however the prizes are only available to australian / new zealand residents. If you are an australian or new zealand resident you can still win the cash prizes without needing to attend. The physical prizes are obviously only available to attendees.

As for filesize, how much would you find reasonable? 32mb (compressed) seems reasonable to me.

My game is 80mb. On the kind of connections over here 80M doesn't take more than a few seconds to download. I am a New Zealander, but I reside in Japan.

Unfortunately we do need to keep the size limit reasonable, perhaps you would like to consider releasing a 'demo' version of your game?

The residancy status is verified via australian bank account details, so if you still have a bank account back in NZ you will have no problems collecting the prize money.
