a7titude - an experimental game with style

Trailer

Description

a7titude is a game of skill which ensembles several tricky puzzles which have to be solved to get to the next stage to get more and more points to reach the highscore.

The game has been done for the Conitec 100 lines contest (june 2008) which involves programming limitations like only 100 semicolons as delimiters for lines and only a sourcecode filesize of max. 10 kB. a7titude fulfills these requirements and is still a cool game.

Ensembling the very well received but not used A7 logo design, a7titude is also a hommage to the A7 game engine community.

Filled with rockin' tunes from the very well know electronic artist Binaerpilot from Norway, an easy to understand but hard to master gameplay, you are asked if vou've git the right a7titude. The a7titude to make games, to play games, to have fun or chill with style while listening to a fine selection of electronica music.

Some key features:

  • Addicting gameplay
  • Easy to learn but hard to master gameplay: play all stages for global highscore or unlock stages to play single trials
  • Two stages with 14 puzzles each. The first stage is easy, the second not smile
  • Nice to look-at, abstract visuals with an electric flavor
  • # A$$-kickin' tunes from Binaerpilot perfectly matching the game and its graphics
  • source code will be freely available: 100 lines and < 10 kB source code size
  • Uses the A7 game engine (obviously ;P ). Levels, cutscenes and lightning has been done in Cinema4D

download the game and/or the source here: a7titude project page

I hope you like it!

Bye bye
- Chris

This trailer looks very impressive. I like the yellow puzzles, they seems to be very tricky. Can't wait for the official release. At the moment this is one of my favourite entries to vote for the 100 line contest. wink

Thanks ^^ the official release is just the contest submission but with a starter window, manual, ogg driver and installer. If the people like it, I add the missing 2 stages which I were not able to do in the last 2 days before the deadline wink - so grab it on the AUM site!

It looks impressing and stylish!
Congratulation for that! smile

I was a bit irritated when I started the game, though.
I expected a marble like game from the screenshots.
I would like to see a more standard control,
with less fast turning objects - in case that you plan to go on with its development after the contest.

cool game. playing with a mouse and playing with a wacom are like two totally different difficulty levels.

when i get sick of stages that are taking a little too long i just jump across by taking my pen away from the tablet and placing it where i think the finish is. you might want to c-trace for that.

Yes i like it, it has a nice style,
and the Music fits perfectly (now i like binaerpilot)

but two things i don't like:
-sensitve of the mouse (isn't exact enought)
-when the stage starts and the camera flys along the puzzles the FPS is very low
(that's bad for a simple game like yours)

But keep up working laugh

Julz, you bada$$! Damn I didnt thought about using a pen tablet ... the highscore is yours wink Yeah, maybe I'll add the fix in the expansion.

I am really impressed how many people like it, because I thought it would be lame (too simply gameplay, ya know) and I made it just to express my devotion to A7, the logo, my favorite music artist and some other eastereggs inside the game.

About the bad performance: it just comes from the high poly count. The rings eat up much polies and when you throw in the stencil shadows it doesn't increase the fps wink I'll add LOD stages in the expansion pack (I decided yesterday morning to do this).

Hey, if you like to design some puzzles, then don't be shy! smile If you dont like the music, though, you can replace it but in the next version I'll also re-add the objects that reacts on the music beat.

Binärpilot, btw., does free music. He did several albums and EPs and they are all free to download on his website, Jamendo or torrent. The music is creative commons licensed. Just if you want to hear more smile

Bye bye
- Chris

n1 - this game seems so styleful (dont know the right word for that)
- i meen the look (and maybe the feeling also ^^) is just a round thing smile

(and i dont think this gameplay is simple: one year ago i programmed a small project just like this. But I was thinking of a flashgame called "reverse" - where your mouse has to moved reversed wink )
sry for my bad english..
