iit looks just as good as anything made with unity3D! WTF?! Why do some people still believe that there is a relationship between graphics and the used engine?! Its possible to create horrible looking games with Unity3D, as well as with Gamestudio, its a matter of assets and not of the engine.

It`s also a matter of the engine, Sid. Performance, memory management, reliability, stability. And features, of course. You can`t program Crysis with the Quake 2 engine, even if you have the world`s greatest artists working for you.

It`s also a matter of the engine, Sid. Performance, memory management, reliability, stability. All of which A8 is great with. The performance won't vary much engine to engine except in extreme examples, such as writing an engine in Java. Also, A8 is very reliable and stable, in my experience. Actually A8's perhaps not great in memory management -- loading assets in the background over several frames would be a very welcome addition to A8. EDIT: Requested! Support would be appreciated if you agree. SuperCan (I almost wrote Superku) looks great! It's about time it found its way here. Thanks for doing that, Rondidon. Jibb

It's not only a matter of the engine, it's also a matter of the tool chain the engine offers. But MOSLTY it's a matter of the qualification of the people working with it.

Great artists can make everything look stunning, independent of the engine, which is mostly just a wrapper around more low level APIs. Sure, a good engine offers some optimizations, but even if it lacks those the current pc hardware handles very high numbers of polygons without problems and usually you are able to also optimize stuff on your own anyway. Problem in this community is, that there are nearly no good artists. The dexsoft models are mostly medium quality, the arteria3d models are low quality and the user models range from really bad to medium quality. A high quality model for me is a model which has details where it needs them, a detailed, well mapped texture, without seams and mipmapping artifacts and streched regions. Part of a good model also needs a normalmap at the quality as if it is generated from a highpoly mesh, a specular map and ideally also a heightmap. And well, for a great looking game you need many models of such a quality... Which is nearly impossible without investing quite a bit of money to have several people create such assests.
I am very sure that SuperCan was created by a commercial team with at least 3 3D artists, most probably more, a concept artist and all the other people needed to create a game of course. And they most probably all work together sitting next to each other. And all this is something very different to hobby game developement...
The games graphics looks great btw, but I hate people showing off other peoples work...

I hate people showing off other peoples work Supecan is a professional game. I´m showing a finalized project from a professional studio, because the engine needs some great screenshots in the portfolio. On Youtube there are tons of videos about the game. Screenshots everywhere. Otherwise I wouldn`t have posted it. Of course I don`t showcase private stuff or smaller games without permission. Also, I wrote that it´s not my game, that it´s finalized and freely available and that it comes from a professional company: Sobee Studios.
