Call Of Death

Watch out!

Because there's a zombie invasion, and someone is pretty pissed off about that. It's Dirty Dick Johnson, and we are proud to show you his new game named "Call of Death: Chapter one". It's a complete indy production, we are currently looking for publisher and are evaluating online distribution platforms.

YOUR MISSION:
You are Dirty Dick Johnson, a guy who doesn't care about anything but girls'n booze. But since the Pussy Palace, Big City's nr. 1 adress for first class adult dancing entertainment couldn’t open because of the zombie invasion, you'll have to make your way out into the city to bring back all the lost strippers. There might be some zombies in your way...

GAME FACTS:
* A fast paced first person SHOTER with a lot of action, hot babes and really black humor
* Easy accessable arcade gameplay, cinematic kill scenes and countless gallons of zombie blood to be shed
* Weapon shop with 12 weapons and a lot of additional items to be purchased
* 5 levels / 3 versions to play each map / 3 mini games to be revealed throughout the game
* 1st of 3 planned chapters

Promo-Teaser:

Before we forget: Similarities with certain characters or games are absolutely coincidential!

I've gotta agree with alpha on this one.

Yes I definately would! Imagine yourself doing 3-4 years of work only for someone to come along to a months work, looks pretty much identical and they get the payout!?! [sarcasm](oh, I'm in the credits... well then it's all worthwhile)[/sarcasm]

This project is far from dead. There are many publishers other than steam and if it comes to it he can sell this himself or via supportive websites like Rondidon said earlier.

Try asking any publisher for any source code and assets to a game they started work on but have canned for some reason and see the response you get.

3run, no I don´t see any reason to cancel my words. See, I know the community since nearly 10 years and I know that there are only a fist full of skilled people which have the ability to work on zapans project. But why? I they have the possibility to work out running projects - why should they have interest on working on somebodys other heartbeat?
If I personal would be able to finish a planned project, for sure, I would not work with other mens stuff and ideas. So what would be the effect on releasing the game? Jesus would say "pearls for the pigs". I would say - the majority would not have the power to work out the game, the majority would just use some code parts for own projects. I personal know only one project "wasteland", which follows the idea of taking over. If there is a possibility to not let dieing the dead... it only depends on zapans will and time to finish his ideas

Open source is an option. If it`s released as a product "from developers for developers". For exemple as commercial genre kit for beginners and advanced people. Or splitted into parts and then released as interesting code snippets.
But, although maybe profitable, I don`t think that Crew51 will go that way. Because that´s just something for the sideline.

The most important thing about game development is motivation. And that should not just be addicted to a release on big platforms.

Of course it`s nice to be part of Victoria`s Secret Fashion Show. But 95% of the clothing designers have lower sights and are nevertheless successful with it. There`s not only 1 and 0 in software publishing business. There´s also the happy medium.

You could ask oliver2s how on the one hand publishes games and on the other hand has a small team who can continue the development.

Ok, stop it. That´s enough.

Zapan, if you need tipps for promotion (on Gamersglobal), I`m willing to help you.

I just threw "open source" in not because I want that project for free.. I even don't have any interest in working on a zombie splatter game (I have a very different image of how a zombie game should look like and most games disappointed me, but that is a different story). What I meant is that the assets and the code could be a good starting point for other developers. I for example am especially interested in the blood splatter code and assets. How about selling the whole thing for 100-300 Eur with everything included? I would buy it immediately. Or maybe sell it for a way bigger fee to JCL so that he can provide it as example project. I don't know.

Even if no customer is interested in this (why, Duke Nukem is coming), many developers are.

There are many ways to succeed. Abandoning is not an option at this point.

If you`ve got some time, Zapan: Download that podcast. It`s about the spirit behind indie development. And succeeding. Most important thoughts: You can`t be ID Software again nowdays. But you can make great and unique games. You can`t succeed bigtime by coming out of nothing, but you can build a community and work together with them. Being sympathic and "transparent development" is way more important than throwing a product out - "and here it is".

Zombies are slooooow (or should be). In return a single or two bites should kill the character. That's SURVIVAL horror. OTOH it's not as fast paced and fun as today's zombie games

I think more correct would be: "There are ~100 ways to fail. And abandoning is the only way to not lose even more time and money."
