WrathOfAngels - proofOFconcept

What you see here was created in 3months for the intel level up contest, we've done alot to try to optimize it, in the end ALOT of files got corrupted(my fault =/ ) and I had to cram back together what I had so the final product isnt as smooth as i'd like;

Two guys and three months resulted in this creation, its aim is to bring the thrill and cinematic of the third person genre into the world of FPS and PC gaming, though we can’t say we’ve hit those marks for the demo, our ideas or strong, then again, doesn’t everybody think theirs is?

However, this is:

Wrath Of Angels

A first person survival game focusing on creating a unique world and battle style, you wield the elements, Earth, Fire, Ice, Wind and Lightning in your battle against an enemy that we dont wish to reveal as yet;

What does this demo include?

• A singleplayer survival as you fight against waves of incoming enemies in an environment that actually has a lot more story than we could’ve squeezed into the development time.
• The ability to use a mere 10 out of a planned 50 spells for the game, ranging from firing sharp rocks to freezing an enemy inplace.
• A sample of our online coop, though we honestly wont highlight this because due to my not so great pc, I wasn’t able to track down and fix all bugs so I will state that this mode may introduce problems, we left it in to show the concept however;


THIS IS MAINLY A PROOF OF CONCEPT, it is not bugfree, I doubt I couldve find and fixed all bugs in less than 3 months;

If you have and intelHD graphics card, then your feedback is HIGHLY valuable

The aim of this is for you to tell me what the performace is like and most of all STABILITY, does it play at all? crashing? We are aware of alot of bugs but we're out of time to fix them, so without further delay, heres the download link:

- get some webspace of your own. those filehosters are a PITA (2012 and downloading with 30kbs, yeah) and I can't load both files at once
- clean up your folders prior to releasing it to the public. no need to include a ton of old screenshots and profiles
- save the readme as a pdf instead of a doc

^those are just minor annoyances
that being said: I love the way you're heading with that project!

- main menu background looks good, but the buttons themselves often refuse to work (and look a bit off), cycle resolution for example
- lock the mouse to the window, otherwise playing in windowed mode becomes impossible

I won't go into detail about the minor bugs you're probably aware of, it's running stable and smooth on my laptop. and this is actually the first time I had some real unspoiled fun with a gamestudio game.

Thanks man, i'm aware of the menu bugs, sad part is, it works perfectly uncompiled, don't know why it refuses to work in published, I manually placed the screenshots and profiles also, thanks about the locking mouse to window;

One person says its crashing for them though, that really sucks, could you give me your laptop specs ?

Also could anyone suggest better upload sites ?

I really like the alternative worlds laugh
Reminds me the days of PS1 console and games like Shadowman and others, where they was lot of original worlds and ideas instead of today realistic way !

I like the player hand and glove, it's well done for a demo,
you could turn it to some complete game with a map selection of stages for example.
It gives me inspiration laugh

(It's an example showing that having default good tools in 3D game studio could have done an improved scene like some terrain editor with multi texturing, where you just put the terrain , edit it, paint it directly after starting WED.)

I'll give it a try tonight.

Just tried it, I couldn't see the terrain, I see the grass models but no terrain, like if I were floating in the air.

several people seems to have gotten this terrain issue, I cannot say why, it runs fine for some people, this is really bad, I would love to do a video but my PC sucks ^^

Please download various fixes UPDATE

I'll try looking into the terrain, I guess its an issue with shadeC and being compiled in a WRS ?

@Quad, that all sounds good, no I dont have a domain, I'll message you as soon as I'm finished sorting the issues with this demo...

At 5:28 in the video you will see two big hands with flames power if you search inspiration wink


because it's terrain it will be easy for you, not complicated level design to make, that's a big advantage also.
Perhaps you could try some normal map on the terrain if it was a mesh ?
To make normal maps you can use a simple tool that transform the color to a normal map ?
I would really like to see how it would be with normal map on ennemies with a good directionnal light , not too dark !
