Evoeon : 2D Game Builder

A free open-source WYSIWYG 2D Game Builder that is designed for JRPG, RPG and Casual Games. Platform, Adventure, and other styles of gameplay will also be included in later updates.

This is a hobby project that I have attempted many times. I plan to use it for my new 2D game designs that I am working on. The new framework is nearly complete and a working beta should be finished soon.

The editor is still in development and things are subject to change as it progresses.

Features Include :
* Build up to 250 2D levels in a single game project and switch between them with ease during development and gameplay.

* Create levels of 800x600 to 10000x10000 size.

* Create and edit up to 100 2D collision blocks, 100 Event blocks, and 100 Layered images per level with drag and drop placement.

* Call custom code easily through events that have autostart, touch and action triggers.

* Ability to edit and manipulate any collision, event or image placed on any level through event code.

And much more.....

For more information on the game builder and it's features, please download the Evoeon Help File below.

This is awesome!
It looks great from this few pictures i've seen. This is one a very useful editor for 3DGS, and even if it will be included platform and adventure gameplay...WOW, this is very kind of you.
I'm waiting for the demo, then i'll be able to say something more wink.

Looks great.

I am also making a 2d game and editor using 3dgs, do you ever think you should have started from scratch and just made your own rendering system?

Iglarion :
Thanks. A working beta will be released for the 3DGS contest next month. I'll upload it a couple of weeks ahead of time on the AUM thread for testing.

FoxHound :
Not really. The features available are enough for what I need.

How are you doing your 2d sprite animation? I have a unique system which is the main reason I wondered if I should have just made my own system.

Evoeon only uses the 2D engine and does not use a 3D level or any other 3D feature for development. (Only Panels) A simple window panel is used for player animations.

I uploaded a standalone version of the 2D player if anyone is interested. It can be found in the lite-c contributions.

I used the same setup when I first started my 2d game. I made a simple viewer to help the debugging of the sprite sheets. If you haven't made one I can find the old viewer somewhere. Warning it is so ugly a mother wouldn't love it.

Thanks, I appreciate the offer, but I created a simple viewer for debugging animated sprites.

I've updated the project with some new features and screenshots. Things are still going good with development and new features are added each day.

New Updates :
* GUI Teleport Event - Level Changing can now set up directly through the Event Builder menu. This way you can avoid creating event code for each level change.

* Fixed some internal bugs and added the gameplay menu back in so that you can set up each level for a different sprite without using event code.

* Created some new game design ideas and example code, such as the top-down gameplay and adventure gameplay. Some are still experimental and still need work. All these will be included in the Example Demo.

* Memory Leak - Fixed all memory issues that were causing the editor to crash.

The editor is slowly reaching a stable beta version, but there is still a lot to be done. A demo should be ready in 2 weeks.
