Anomalies

Anomalies is now Greenlit and released:

Anomalies on Steam

Check it out if you get a chance!

A Fine Art Game
Anomalies is a generative art game. There are no levels, points or objectives. It is a "game" in the sense of being an amusement or pastime, an interactive piece of audio-visual, virtual sculpture, which one can tinker around with and explore.

Generate and Explore
You can randomly generate the anomalies, or you can change the anomaly's parameters manually with a series of sliding dials in order to tweak your creation. Use the controls to explore Anomalies, and the unique sights and sounds they generate.

Sights and Sounds
Anomalies are both audio and visual phenomena, the parameters that effect one effect the other. Some are strange and discordant entities, while others are symmetrical and harmonious. All the images and "songs" you hear in the demo video were produced through the program's algorithms.

Other Options
Using a built in screen capture button, you can collect snapshots of your handiwork. Use it as desktop wallpaper, or share it with your friends. If you want to revisit a favorite anomaly, you can also save it and load it again later. There is also an auto timer feature that cycles through anomalies automatically, allowing you to sit back and enjoy the show.

Looks like some cool but twisted space entity. Reminds me of this planet with tentacles (bottom right) from Creature Shock for some reason.

Each "Space Tree" is different. It makes these things randomly, but you can use sliders to adjust them manually if you want.

When it saves screen shots, the menu and mouse images disappear momentarily.

I made this as an offshoot of my space exploration game. Once I'm happy with it, I will incorporate the same functionality in order to generate nebulas and outer space anomalies.

That sample looks like a 360-degree space drilmachine grin

Cool stuff though.
I think the trees have something mysterious/creepy which I like with space games. Have you considered making them into something 'evil' that has spaceships for lunch or such?

This program sort of spawned off of a space exploration I'm working on (you can see that one under "Projects") I had a basic algorithm I used for making outer space nebulas, but the results were not very pleasing. I decided to make a very simple program that would generate more interesting nebulas, and it turned into this.

When I'm done with it, I'm going to incorporate all the random functions back into me space game.

Interesting and twisted grin . Perhaps an idea to add some optional (small/random) puzzles?

ps: I just looked at some of your paintings on your website, some of them are pretty awesome (especially Apertures and Maze). (I don't collect paintings or such but just wanted to say that)
