Wellll I mean.. there's a number of things the meteor couldve been harboring and brought down on the Peruvians.. Radiation from deep space travelling.. foreign bacteria.. hell.. it could've put an ultrasoluble pathogen in the air on the way down. The rock's composition could've made a toxic reaction with the soil/groundwater on which it landed.

The pathological nature of this rock could be any number of things.
