Personally I dont think it matters at all with GStudio as any game that goes gold and beyond would probably be rewritten in a cross-platform engine and thats where copy protection may come in handy.
Most algorythms are well known and it doesnt take much to reproduce code you might be interested in.
Copywrite is so advanced now that derivatives can be easily canned as soon as they appear and you will always be the author of the game.
I would only use copy protection if I have what I think is a an assett that could be licensed off as is.
Then again, its nice to have tidy game folders...
