Hi Spawny,

aslong as it is a non profit making fan based game no one get's sued.

This statement is incorrect. The person that owns the Intellecual Property has the right to stop people from using the IP. You could create a porno version of Ghost Busters which could damage the value of the license. You will get sued regardless of wether its free or not.

Lucas allows Fan created movies of Star Wars. Basically because its cost's to much to enforce its IP rights.

Star Trek is more strict with its fans usage of its IP's.

Disney does not allow any use free or not of its IP's. A day Care center painted Mickey Mouse and other Disney Characters on a Wall. The Day Care center was forced to destory the painting.

Spawny you are should seek some sort of permission for your protection. Do not be suprised if you do not get it. A worldwide free distribution of your game could destory the market for a retail Ghost Buster game. Which would cost the IP owner to lose money, then they would sue.

There was a great 2D Ghost Buster scroller made for the Commodore 64.

I love what you are doing with the Ghost Buster game. I just hope you will not run into IP problems.
