Its been a long time coming, but a new level design tutorial for 3D GameStudio should be completed soon (read: in about a week). Here are the topics we will cover in the tutorial:
Working with WED - The WED Work Space - Setting Up Short Cuts - Working with WED's Views - WED's Grid System
Plotting and Planning - The Beginning - Deciding the Genre - Doing Research
Getting Started - Using Snapping - Start Simple - Duplicating - Rotating - Vertex, Edge and Face Move
A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words - Bigger is Not Always Better - Using Texture Scaling - Color Coordinating Your Textures
... And more.
Each section will have tips, tricks and things to avoid and why. This is intended as a tutorial for the beginner and intermediate level builder alike. Images will be shown throughout the tutorial to help solidify ideas and concepts and a demo level/game will be included with the tutorial. The images within the tutorial will be from the small, two level game so that the examples are from a real project. I will attempt to walk you through what I do when I create levels.
