It has new technology like blu-ray and a 8 core processor. You are right about PS3 = graphics and that's what you pay 600$ for. A good desktop computer wouldn't be cheaper, especially with blu-ray, so it's actually not a bad deal... (it was a bad deal back when it was like 600 € ,

Edit: By the way, soon there will be an ever better deal. 29th of April, Grand Theft Auto IV and the PS3 together for only €439!
