I said, 'Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant?'
'Protestant.'
I said, 'Me too! Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?'
'Baptist.'
I said, 'Me too! Are you Baptist Church of God or Baptist Church of the Lord?'
He said, 'Baptist Church of God.'
I said, 'Me too! Are you original Baptist Church of God, or are you Reformed Baptist Church of God?'
'Reformed Baptist Church of God.'
I said, 'Me too! Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1879, or Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915?'
He said, 'Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915.'
I said, 'DIE, HERETIC SCUM!' and I pushed him off.
Very funny indeed.
it's not about superiority, it's about being able to have fellowship with like-minded Christians.
It has even more to do with peer-pressure psychology. Make people believe they are part of a much bigger group and they are easier influenced. Eventually it is all about make-believe and a certain kind of superiority. If they wouldn't believe their version is the best, wouldn't they just join a different group?
