according to me, gamestudio developers can make own video recorder, (e.g source sdk video recording). My hardware is 4 year old and at 720P video recording fraps performance is awful. i get very smooth results with source's video creation at 720P.

anyway, especially for tutorial,training creation and in game video creation, i highly recommend BB FLASHBACK EXPRESS EDITION. its completely free.
