Steam just inexplicably froze again.

What has gaming come to?

EDIT: I had to wait a few minutes, but it eventually came back. Apparently it had downloaded an update and wanted to restart. I hit the restart button and Steam crashed.

I really don't understand why Steam does what it does... my computer is really only a few years old, and my internet connection isn't half bad either.
