finally converted my shade-c based shaders to SM3, after sucking a lot with under-water fog thingies... approximately looks and works as in SM2.0, but now I have more possibilities.
the first one who finds the only object with a SM2.0 shader wins a free copy of MapBuilder grin (there are some incompatibilities, so I don't know whether I will release it or not, or if yes, how...)
