Optimization is scary. I have a book (admittedly quite old now) called Michael Abrash's Graphics Programming Black Book. It's extremely interesting and entertaining to read about all the ways x86 programming has evolved through the decades, but damn does it make me afraid to ever go back to serious optimizing again.

On an unrelated note, Barony seems to be taking over the /r/roguelikes subreddit.

A few days ago, we FINALLY caught the attention of the twitch community, who are now gleefully getting their skulls crushed by boulders, spells and archaic weaponry. We're going to launch Barony on April 4th and within 24 hours will have our greenlight up too, so everything seems to be moving along well.

The relief is actually palpable. Just a few days ago I seriously felt lower than I probably ever have in my life, but people seem to like the game and with luck we may come out of this with more than just $10 in change.

Wish us luck! Or not. I'm not your boss, geez.

Jacklifear will be streaming our game later here if you want to watch though:
