Hi folks !

This is work in progress:

I recently got 3 elder Samsung TV active shutter glasses. I thought it must be a very smart solution to trigger the glasses (left right alternating) via cable from my PC for a cheap 3D Stereo glass. For still pictures or gamestudio worlds.
As you can see on both the pictures, disassembling the glasses is pretty easy (I used a simple cutter) and the soldering points are quiet accessible to connect two thin cables to the glasses, 2 wires for each glass. So when 3V is connected to the wire the glass shuts (is dark) and with 0V the glass is open, while the other glass shuts, getting its 3V.
I tested the shutting with 3V and also 5V and it works fine. There seems no problem using 5V which can be provided by a COM port or Printer Port or other ports.
A monitor frequence > 100 HZ is definitely recommended, but maybe lower frequencies may also do the job, increasing the tendency for flickering,
Wether a COM or Printer Port is fast enough create a stable synchronous voltage switching for the computers picture flipping (left eye-right eye pictures) needs to be tested.

Note: Gamestudio provides the use of COM or Printer Ports in the Commercial or Pro version (A8) only. Note that the wrong usage of the Ports CAN EREASE YOUR HARD DRIVE OR DESTROY YOUR COMPUTER !!!!! NO JOKE ! (from the manual)
So be very careful and be sure exactly what you are doing and that you use the right addresses.

I personally will check the glasses with other graphic engines on an old computer.

So this modding is just an idea, I will let you know if it works. Maybe you can do it better than me or you saw something like this already on the net.

The glasses are SAMSUNG SSG-5100GB infrared active shutter glasses. I got them for 16 bucks all three.
