Hi,
yesterday I spent a whole day to play around with detail textures for terrains in Gamestudio. It was not really fun because the detail textures always changed brightness of the overall color or did not tile very good or created a noisy look or changed colors dramatically. So I had to try over and over again.
May idea to improve this workflow is to have a terrain preview function in MED (maybe in the skin editor). So I can add a detail texture, check a flag for detail mapping and can see how it will look ingame.
And I really would like to have a few options for the blending method like you have in 2d graphic softwares (overlay, add, multiply and so on).
The same idea would work well for a multi textured terrain. There could be one common supported shader in MED that creates the preview and could even help to modify the terrain in MED when it would be displayed in the 3d preview window.
But maybe all that is possible in GameEdit later on?
Best regards,
Frank
